The primary responsibility of the MSL is to educate and share scientific information regarding pivotal data with healthcare practitioners and the specified therapeutic areas. The MSL role is non-promotional in nature. Our MSLs focus on the provision of unbiased scientific information and education to healthcare professionals, establish value-adding partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), contribute to data generation and support the commercial field-based teams, as appropriate.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Identify, engage and develop long term relationships with current and rising thought leaders (KOLs, experts, others) in endocrinology and acute pain. Build a strong network of pertinent and relevant experts in order to obtain relevant advice, expert opinion and collaborations.

  • Maintain current scientific and medical knowledge in the areas of interest for the company in order to provide relevant advice to appropriate individuals within the country. Attend pertinent sessions of healthcare-associated meetings (congresses, regional meetings, etc.); meet with KOLs/experts and healthcare providers and be knowledgeable in the relevant medical literature, developments and guidelines.

  • Provide scientific presentations at company sponsored meetings such as advisory boards and external meetings such as managed care presentations

  • Provide scientific support at key regional and national congresses

  • Collaborate with director of medical affairs to identify relevant research projects and take an active role in data generation.

  • Develop/maintain medical expertise and a strong understanding of clinical practice in IDA. Assist with the gathering of field insights regarding product characteristics and therapeutic area development.

  • Develop and Maintain a territory medical engagement strategic plan to drive the company’s product franchise.

  • Ensure that all MSL activities are conducted in an ethical and compliant manner, and that they are aligned with the wider company goals and guidelines.

  • Serve as the interface between the MSL and other teams (Clinical, Marketing, Market Access and Sales) to ensure alignment of activities and optimal cross-functional collaboration.

  • Ability to travel 40-60%.-Territory covers the state of Texas, southwest and southeast.


Education & Professional Background:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PharmD or PhD).

  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical Science Liaison/Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical industry:

  • Preferably, experience working within Endocrinology and or Pain

  • Knowledge of the PhRMA, OIG and other relevant guidelines.

  • Good understanding of the clinical development process and the ICH-GCP guidelines.
